hostlab.co.cc web hostingHostlab.co.cc
offers free web hosting that is really free, no hidden fees, no credit card or other deposit required. You can signup for a Free Web Hosting account by completing the several simple steps of our registration process. The best part of all is that a free web hosting account does not expire. You can use it for lifetime if it suits your needs. If you have along-lasting experience with hosting companies you will soon be surprised by the high level of performance this free service sustains. We dare say that to some extend this free web hosting as way better than even some paid web hosting services. Whilst the free web hosting service hostlab offers is good, if you are a serious web site owner and want to use your site’s full potential you may need the professional web hosting service hostlab offers with their paid web hosting plans.

I personally feel that hostlab.co.cc is the best free web hosting service provider on the planet! They are best in terms of reliability, speed, uptime and support, which most free hosting services lack. Hostlab.co.cc is way better than some paid hosting services, though it is free.

Wasitup.com: website uptime monitor

April 28, 2010 Leave a comment

Wasitup? wasitupis a website that allows you to monitor your website’s uptime and notifies you via email whenever your site is down. You can monitor up to 10 websites at once painlessly using “Manage Monitorings” and the best part is that no registration is required to use this service. Just visit the site, enter your site’s address and your email ID. The three fields that you have to fill in include one in which you provide the name of the site (“Make sure this site is up”), another one where you specify what the application must look out for, and a final section in which you set down the contact e-mail to be used for notification purposes. wasitup

To monitor a website, just input its url. And to stop the website monitoring, just to click the link in the email and then click the stop button on the opened page.

Wasitup? performs an HTTP HEAD request and checks that the status code is 200 OK. Your website is polled every 5 minutes.

WasItUp is very useful, free. No doubt, a tool that every webmaster should use.

Web Development Tutorials

March 19, 2010 10 comments

Quackit_logoQuackit teaches beginners how to create websites. They start off , teaching the  basics such as HTML and CSS. This site is extremely useful of web enthusiasts and absolute beginners. Topics range from HTML to SQL server. More advanced topics are also covered so that you can add more features to your website!!

The  tutorials are published to help beginners build websites and even start a career in website development.

I know how difficult it can be for someone when starting to learn a new technology. The aim of  Quackit is to “de-mystify” these technologies and to provide a general overview of each technology first (rather than jumping straight into the technical details). Having said that, it  does provide technical details where it’s required.

Over time, more and more tutorials, code libraries, and code generators are added.

The service is absolutely free, but you might wonder how they are covering the costs of running this website; simple, they use advertising to cover the costs.

With employees increasingly accessing social networking sites on their business PCs and laptops, any attack via social networking platforms can place company data directly at risk.

Here are some of the simple acts that businesses can share with their employees to ensure they are protected from common social network attacks…

Find open-source alternatives to commercial software

March 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Osalt is an awesome site that provides  high quality open and free alternatives to well-known commercial software. Browse through software categories and compare pros and cons of both commercial products as well as open source software.

Why open source
By choosing an open source product, the user obtains a number of advantages compared to commercial products. Besides the fact that open source is always available for free, it is a transparent application, in that you are invited exclusively behind the scenes to view all source code and thereby to suggest improvements to the product. Furthermore, every product is covered by a large dedicated network, or community, who is more than willing to answer any questions, you may have.
